Hydroelectric Plengan And Lamajan, Indonesia's oldest hydropower

Plengan and Lamajan hydropower hydropower is the oldest in Indonesia. Two hydropower is located in District Pangalengan, Regency Bandung, located about 35 kilometers from the city of Bandung. Until now both are still in operation to supply electricity to the Java-Bali interconnection.

Plengan and Lamajan built in the early 1900s, along with the development of hydropower in the region of West Java, that Crooked-Dago (Bandung), Ubrug (Sukabumi), and Kracak (Bogor). Hydro power plant in West Java was developed to meet the needs of plantation and tea factory.

Lamajan Plengan Development and implemented in 1918-1924. Plengan started operating since 1923, while Lamajan a year later. The distance both on the slopes of Mount Tilu hydro is only 2 km away.

Hydroelectric Plengan has five turbines with a total capacity of 6.27 MW. The turbine in Lamajan many as three a total of 19 MW capacity. Until now the two hydropower is still operating under the control of the Business Unit Saguling PT Indonesia Power Generating and supplying electricity to the Java-Bali interconnection.

For the operationalization of the two hydropower utilize water flow Cisangkuy River and tributaries in the vicinity. To ensure supply of water for hydropower, the Government of the Netherlands East Indies to build two dams in District Pangalengan, namely Cileunca Situ Situ Cipanunjang in 1922 and in 1930. Secondly it is able to hold water up to 30 million cubic meters.
